About

Rooted in Soil & Soul

Hi, I’m Morgan — a cold-climate gardener, homeschool parent, and deep thinker rooted in Alaska (Zone 4). I’m slowly transforming my small suburban yard into a permaculture-inspired food forest that nourishes both the body and the soul.

I started Soil and Soul Garden because I wanted a space to share what I’m learning — not as an expert, but as a beginner who’s experimenting, observing, and growing alongside the garden. I believe tending to the earth is a sacred act, and that even a small patch of lawn can become a place of abundance, ecology, and quiet transformation.

You’ll find practical posts here on cold-climate plants, food forest design, perennial guilds, and no-till gardening — but also reflections on what the land teaches about trust, timing, and finding our way in life. My goal is to help others in short growing seasons build beautiful, resilient gardens that feel like home.

Whether you’re new to permaculture, curious about edible landscaping, or just tired of mowing grass — you’re welcome here.

Let’s grow something soulful.
